Tax day 2011

Well it is very early on that day that a lot of Americans dread, tax day. For the second time in my life my wife and I owe taxes to the feds. The first time was over 20 years ago and it was only a $115.00. This time however it is much more than that approx. 10 times more. There was a mix up at Mengs work and I did not have any thing withheld out of my unemployment check. Well enough about that except to say it will get paid over time.

Last night was another great night of bible study. I really enjoy this group the the Lord found for me. The group is very diverse and we all seem to get along well and share openly. Last night we discussed Jesus's journey to Jerusalem. A short scripture which the first time I read it I said to myself wow not much here to talk about or learn from well I was wrong. Something I have learned in my short time reading scripture; is there is always more than what is written. There seems to always be a story within a story. It just fascinates me how we can all read the same scripture and come out with such different feelings, thoughts and understanding of the scripture.

Well in a few hours it will be time to go to the airport and pick-up Mengs brother. I really miss him. We seem to get along the best of all her brothers and sisters. He is coming in for the Lao New Year celebrations. It will be a busy and enjoyable time for the next few days. Hopefully it will take my mind of of all that is on it right now.

Yesterday I received my last unemployment check. So a little later in the morning I will be forced to do something that I never thought I would have to do and that is to apply for food stamps and general assistance. It will be a painful process. First I have to deal with government employees and the bureaucracy and then all the stigma that comes along with it. This is not something I take lightly, but I have to do something as I have to live and pull my fair share.

I am sure the Lord God is looking out for me. I just wish he would hurry up and let me know the plan.
